This is a kooky hotel! Beautiful courtyards with lots of sitting areas amongst the flowering plants. The rooms are all different, comfortable and very attractive. The staff are very helpful. It was lovely coming in summer, now I’d like to return in a cooler month to use the fireplace in the room! Plenty of wardrobe / shelving space. Nice little pool and decking area.

    The property was a 10 second walk from the beach. A lovely private garden and a 15 minute walk to the local shop. Bike hire is essential as this whole island is designed for bikes. Loads of places to visit aswell.

    Laid back, peaceful break.

    Laid back, peaceful break. Public transport links aren't as good this far up the island, but I managed to get about quite adequately. The little patisserie in the middle of the town is great. The market is open every morning and has a wide selection of food products.

    Great choice of restaurants catering for all tastes. Chez Remi, Ars en Re tremendous with an extensive fish menu. La Cabane de la Patache, Les Portes en Re is a lovely restaurant on the beach, booking essential. Excellent cycle hire in Ars en Re, 'Balade & Vu' run by very helpful people, unless you have experience riding an electric bike stick to a traditional bike as the island is very flat and easy to cycle. Lovely, extensive market.

    Laurent and Marie run an excellent hotel. Everything is as it should be and once again it shows that when you have the proprietors on the premises there is great attention to detail. Both our breakfasts and our two dinners were first rate and not only are the staff charming they are most efficient and helpful. We had a technical problem with our car on leaving and the help we received to sort it was over and above what one might expect. Everyone at Le Martray is to be congratulated we had a wonderful stay and will make a point of returning.

    Excellent location with very easy access (bike/walking) to both Ars-en-Ré and the beach. Very clean, bright hotel with extremely comfortable large beds. Cycle hire facility is excellent and efficient. Thermal spa facilities are good with very good sauna and steam room. Great parking right in front of the hotel. Pleasant staff who speak good English.
