    Bayonne is a lovely town in the middle of the French Basque area. The old town is totally walkable with lots of shops, bars, chocolate stores, sidewalk cafes, and great restaturants. One can just stroll around and decide which restaurant to enjoy.

    Bayone is a very historic city in the French side of the Basque Country. The old town is charming with plenty of chocolate shops. Saturday all the shops are open but Sunday the town is shut down so plan accordingly. We visited the Basque museum on Sunday - well worth a visit.

    We stayed Hostel 20, which is a flat 10 minute walk across the bridge to the city center. In the city center, its very similar to other French towns, everyone out having something to eat or drink at all hours of the day. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Taxi Cab app is what we used if we needed transportation and Uber did not work for us. Places we enjoyed: Les Halles de Bayonne Iberico and co BASA - reservation Piccole Cose- reservation

    Bayonne is a great little town.

    Bayonne is a great little town. It’s divided by two rivers, giving lots of space to relax or enjoy a drink. The old town is interesting and in good condition. There are many dining options and there are cafes everywhere. If you are looking for a place that Is comfortable, has an interesting Basque flavor and is not overrun by English speaking tourists, Barring is for you.

    If you like history then this is the place for you, with a beautiful cathedral and cloister, a museum of local and regional history and other fascinating buildings. There is an excellent shopping area and good restaurants.

    Bayonne is a beautiful little town, absolutely adorable.

    Bayonne is a beautiful little town, absolutely adorable. There are loads of nice restaurants and the people are very friendly. There are also a lot of nice little shops, and the market Saturday morning is lovely. You can walk everywhere, but there are also little buses you can ride for free. The rivers in the center are impressive and beautiful, and you can stay looking at the water for hours, especially when the tide water comes up and goes down. We also took a lunch and afternoon trip to Guéthary (that a server at a bar recommended us), a tiny little town by the sea. Beautiful and really nice food.

    Jean was a fantastic host, really easy to coordinate with even considering we didn’t speak much French! The property was tidy, and you have access to everything you need for an extended stay. It’s right in the city of Bayonne! We caught the bus to Biarritz after we got rid of the rental car! Regarding the parking, there is a public car park across the road, I can’t remember what time we parked there but it was free overnight parking until 9am.

    We had no internet access, we were exhausted from the travelling and were then told that there would be no reception staff until 5 pm (2.5 hr wait). We were told to use a check in machine, which we couldn't access without refering to our bookings account on the phone. We gave in, and booked into Ibis budget around the corner, who did have Friendly helpful staff. This cost us the booking. But we will never use them again.

    A traditional French hotel. Larger room than we expected, very light, with a great view of Bayonne. The man who checked us in early (thank you!) was very helpful but other staff a bit less friendly. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Very close to the railway station, which was great, but about 15 minutes walk to town. Breakfast was a little pedestrian, but value for money. The room itself was excellent value.

    This apartment has secure parking available and is a 10 minute stroll from the centre of Bayonne. The apartment was very clean. It is compact but has everything you need. The owner is very helpful. Would use again. The bus to Biarritz leaves almost outside the complex, T1 route. Definitely visit there if you have time.
