Comfortable place with really good food. Bed was super. Khrystyna was an excellent host and even had breakfast ready earlier for me, so I could catch a bus; I was late for the breakfast so 0/10 for me, 10/10 for Le Freudeneck!

We spent a wonderful evening at l'hippocampe. Corrine and Didier were wonderful hosts and they have a beautiful and tranquil home. We arrived wet after hiking in the rain. They brought our hiking clothes to the basement to dry and offered us fresh coffee and cake! Dinner was delicious and we had an enjoyable chat afterwards.

    Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Great evening meal, from fresh local ingredients. One of us is coeliac (gluten intolerant) and very kindly they ordered a gluten free loaf for breakfast. On our motorbike trips we will definitely remember this hotel to visit again.

    Wonderful location, comfortable rooms, friendly staff and amazing service. Located in the small village of Birkenwald the hotel offers a special view on the woods surrounding the hamlet. The environment is peaceful and quiet. We loved it!

    We had a room of generous proportion with a sofa and a desk area and a lovely view. A bath seems to be rare in hotels nowadays but our shower room was very clean.
