FAQs about hotels in Bordeaux

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.

On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

Bordeaux is a beautiful city, full of mellow stone buildings and if you’re staying in the centre, all the sights are easily accessible on foot. If you’re staying further out, public transport is brilliant. Picked as a destination on the back of a Rick Stein long weekend and definitely not disappointed. Restaurant La Plana in Place de la Victoire is well worth a go with excellent food and lovely staff

Finding a hotel with free parking was my main objective and in main parts of Bordeaux very difficult as most were pay or they had payment parking close by. So across the river Garonne was better for me lovely clean hotel free parking and excellent rooms for the cost. Only a short stay but do wish I was able to stay longer what a beautiful city plenty going on extremely busy but trams buses taxis even boat crossings but was amazed at the architecture of the city absolutely beautiful. Would stay again definitely and for longer.

We stayed in an apartment on Place du Parlement in the centre of the city. A perfect location for exploring the centre given it is predominantly pedestrianised. There are plenty of great restaurants, galleries, and shops within an easy walk. We particularly enjoyed dinner at restaurant Vivants in Rue des Bahutiers. The tram system is straight forward to use and makes it simple to visit attractions further out, we used it to go to the Bassins des Lumières located in the old WW2 submarine pens on the north side of the city. Bordeaux is a perfect size for a short break or as base for exploring the famous local wine regions.

Good restaurants very close by, Bordeaux Station SNCF on the other side of the road. I was on my way home to the Pyrenees from the Philippines. I wanted to arrive home in the light (day time). So I opted stop there and continue the next day as there is no electricity at my house. The hotel was a little rundown but it was clean, staff welcoming, double bed, good breakfast, after 24 hours travel I just needed to sleep. 100 euros seemed expensive but the location was good and maybe prices have increased since I was in France last.

We only had one day in Bordeaux so just had a general look round the city. It is a lovely place with good transport. We visited the modern art gallery and walked on the promenade by the river. It would be good to go back and spend a few days there as there is plenty to see and lots of places to visit.

Great food and wine 🍷we found walking around town the nicest way around, go to the tourist information centre, get some free maps and info on buses trams etc. The river buses use same tickets as land buses. Buy first at some bus stops, the tap in on bus/boat. You can add 1 or 10 trips on One ticket (more if you want) once "stamped" the ticket lasts for 1hour on as many buses or boats! Do go on the "small train" near the info centre first, this takes you around the most of the highlights with multi language headsets. Enjoy. The just relax drink and eat.

Beautiful Townhouse that has all the comforts of a 5 star hotel. The hosts are warm and friendly and went out of their way to ensure that we had a fantastic stay. This truly is a gem and i cannot recommended it enough. Delicious breakfast served each morning. I will certainly stay again on future visits to Bordeaux.

Stay City Aparthotel was very clean and comfortable for a short stay in Bordeaux. Staff at reception were friendly helpful and professional. Location was reasonable for city centre. Didn’t have breakfast here so can’t comment on that.
