Brantome is an extremely picturesque small town and is a major attraction for tourists, particularly during high season. The varied shops and cafes provide opportunities to browse while the weekly market is a must-see if you are able to visit. The whole town is a network of small streets and bridges to explore with the river, parks and abbey providing photo opportunities at every turn. We were not given a room in the main hotel (as was shown in the photographs) but across the road in the annexe which we did not want. We had expected a lovely room, with a balcony and overlooking the river.
