This was an overnight stop on our way back to the ferry port near Caen, so more of a functional one than a sightseeing one, though we did head to the château at Villandry after leaving, which was only about 25 minutes' drive via the scenic route through Savonnières. There was a choice of decent restaurants in easy walking distance for dinner and breakfast was fine. The room was very hot when we arrived and the aircon not working but the lad on the desk explained that it can either be set to cool or to heat for the whole building and the weather suddenly changing from cool to hot had left the 'wrong' option enabled. The area is fine The hotel is definitely not. Dirty. Broken fittings. Bad smell. Toilet flush broken. Soap dispensers empty. The first room had a broken sink. We were told they were full. Unfortunately, there was an issue with our booking this time and we went into a twin instead of a double (really not an issue), although the aircon wasn’t working. They did give us breakfast for free as way of an apologie and we were still very happy with the service and hotel.
