Very nice seemingly family run place... the young man was pretty fluent in English and met us at the reception desk to give us the keys and the gentleman (dad?) showed us the room. It had a lovely countryside view with the water in the distance. The bed was a little firmer than we are used to so we opted to sleep in the main area (it was as larger anyway) and give the room to the kids. The bathroom shower really is tight, but the whole ambience of the place as a whole definitely made up for that. It is lovely and peaceful-it truly felt like a little retreat. The food was pretty good in the restaurant there too. The kids bought a parachute toy from the airborne museum and the man seemed happy to see the kids playing and even dropped it for them off the balcony. Love the interior design and detailings, well thought out and timelessly elegant. The garden was very nice and well kept. The breakfast was excellent, locally sourced offerings in a beautiful room. We chose to stay in the attic room of the main building as we love the look and feel of vintage timber beams and pothole windows of a historical building but with contemporary vibe. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The service staff were helpful, friendly and spoke English as well.

    Commes is a small village, which is a good location for travelling around this part of Normandy. Our particular interest was the D Day landings and the location was excellent for this. Also we visited Bayeux and the chateau at Balleroy. Commes is a short distance from Port en Bassin which has excellent restaurants and bars, shops and a supermarket.

    Our host Michel gave a fabulous welcome to a wonderful independent gite with safe parking, a huge gated garden for us and our dog to enjoy with patio, the accommodation was a rustic treasure that relaxed, all amenities, comfortable, clean, spacious, highly recommend, we will definitely return, commes is a great location by harbour port village and close to Omaha, Bayeau so all the museums and landing sites etc easily accessible

    The host is exceptionally friendly and the property is very charming. It must have been an old farm that has been converted into an hotel. The food is so good that we chose to have dinner at the restaurant attached to the hotel every evening. Location is excellent for people who would like to see the landing beaches of the Allies. Omaha beach and especially the Battery Longue sur Mer is just around teh corner.

    Breakfast was good, no eggs were served. Dinner, cooked by the owner was excellent. The hotel is in an old village building, the room was rather simple. Checking in only after 4 pm. Short driving distance to the various landing beaches, museums and cemeteries.

    A very good hotel in an excellent location, lovely views all around. Everything seemed new and spotlessly clean, the breakfast was very good, and the restaurant was superb. The place was surrounded by fields, so very peaceful at night.
