    Durtal is a sleepy little town but has an imposing castle at...

    Durtal is a sleepy little town but has an imposing castle at it's centre and the beautiful Loire running through it. There is the typical French charm of the buildings and infrastructure with the obligatory boulangerie from which to get your bread and pastries from. Unfortunately the choice of eating places seemed limited, due to the after effects of Covid and the rise in energy bills. It is however well situated as a base from which to explore the wider Loire region safe in the knowledge you can return to a very peaceful "bolt-hole" at the end of your day.

    This is more than a hotel room, this is a modernised house, has everything you need, and more. Very comfortable and very quiet at night. The very friendly host met me upon arrival at the hotel, made me feel welcome.

    Very friendly and helpful host. Felt more like staying with a friend than just a bed and breakfast. Fascinating, historical house. Food was also great, and Durtal was a pretty little town.
