We know Gray very well because we have relatives there.
We know Gray very well because we have relatives there. It is a lovely provincial town on the beautiful River Saône: 'la France profonde'. As a consequence, if we drive down from England to Provence we find it an ideal distance to stop and relax. (We arrived in Calais at around midday and arrived in Gray in time for a French hotel dinner.) Normally we would stay with our family, but on this occasion there was no space, so we chose the Château de Rigny, a very please two-and-a-half kilometre drive along, and situated on, the Saône, which was about half as expensive again as the other place at which we have stayed on more than one occasion: the 'Au Mastroquet'. The latter has the advantage of being in the town, but the former certainly has a discreet touch of class. I yet again find myself recording how annoying I find Booking.com's patronising exhortations to write this 'review'. The rooms are decorated in the traditional style and ours was a little tired … but this is reflected in the price and the beds were comfortable, everything was very clean so we have no complaints. Couldn’t recommend a stay here highly enough.
