From the moment I arrived, the lovely Celeste & Patrick made me part of their family! Their charming Chambre d’Hote is clean and comfortable with everything that you need for a relaxing stay. The highlight, however, is their dinner and breakfast which is all beautifully home made and served in their kitchen which is a lovely way to get to know them and the other guests. Dinner is a delicious multi course affair with a home made cider aperitif for me, and Patrick keeping the wine glasses topped up. They are both lovely and natural hosts and we shared a lovely evening! In the morning, the breakfast table literally groans under the weight of the food and drink including Celeste’s amazing home made cakes and pastries - perfect for a hungry cyclist! I genuinely hope I can return soon as I’m missing them already!

We arrived in driving rain from the Caen ferry and were delighted to be welcomed by our host Angela (also known as Sue) who made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay including warm rooms and a generous welcome basket of goodies to settle us in. She is the perfect host - there if you need anything, but not intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble. The gite is as it appears in the photos with a downstairs well equipped kitchen and upstairs a cosy bedroom, sitting room and shower room. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was extremely comfortable with excellent quality linens and there was a plentiful supply of hot water for the shower. The WiFi signal is excellent. The provision of upstairs and downstairs kettles and mugs was greatly appreciated, for that all important early morning cup of tea! The outside seating area was a great place to enjoy breakfast when the sun came out for us. We stayed for 10 days and found it a great place to relax and really unwind. There are excellent walks locally and some lovely towns and villages in under an hour's drive. The famous attractions (Mont St Michel, D-day landing beaches etc) are within about a 90 min drive. The local is very rural and the only noises at night are natural ones. We really couldn't have asked for anything more. We would love to come back. The gite is about 5 min by car from the nearest village for the basics and about 15 min from St Hilaire for the full range of supermarkets, shops, some excellent restaurants (try L'Ardoise opposite the church), a Wednesday market and a tourist office.

It’s a beautiful house away from busy roads. A perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Our accommodation was very well maintained and clean, the bedroom - located in the old part of the house - was super cute and cozy. Our host Ian was super friendly and very kind to post some stuff we forgot at the house. We have had a great experience!

A wonderful space. Full of art and beautiful books. Very friendly and interested hosts. They prepared maps and an itinerary for us. The breakfasts were amazingly good. A peaceful village surrounded by rich meadow and orchards with a tradition of making perry. Hosts can put you in touch with producers. Plenty of touring to be done.

We had a wonderful time here! The place feels very homey and comfortable. The hosts are incredibly friendly and speak English, which made communication easy. It's a very quiet location — perfect if you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Breakfast was included in the price, it was simple, but a lovely start to the day. We really enjoyed our stay here! Highly recommended for a peaceful retreat!

Lovely friendly welcome Ian and Tracy couldn't do enough for us to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The appartment was clean light and airy. Great value for money particularly with breakfast too. There were complementary drinks in the apartment which was a lovely touch and nice to enjoy a cup of tea after our long journey. A lovely little bar just a few steps from the apartment for drinks and pizza. We also enjoyed dinner at a very nice English style bar which was just a ten minutes drive which served lovely food and good live music. Definitely will visit Number 17 B&B again.
