The Queens Escape is one very unique and special chateau, if you are seeking something very different to your usual overnight, short or long stay, then this amazing chateau will not disappoint. Set in outstandingly beautiful grounds and within easy reach to the Dordogne river, and all the attractions offers, you will quickly feel like royalty especially as Karen, our host, was both very friendly and attentive to our needs without imposing on our privacy. Don't expect flatscreen TV's and modern tech, just relax and take in the scenery, amazing sunsets, walks around the grounds, watch deer, listen to the crickets and wildlife. You won't be disappointed! Martel, the nearest village, is a 10-minute drive and would highly recommend a visit to this medieval gem. My wife and I only stayed for 3 nights, and would have stayed longer but for the fact we were on a tour of France. I would not hesitate staying again in ever in the area. Karen & Bo

A TRULY MAGICAL REAL CASTLE-HOTEL in a wonderful location looking onto the Dordogne. Absolutely beautiful and exceptional in every way. Francoise is the most lovely lady you could ever meet and she makes certain that guests are very well looked after. The setting and rooms are gorgeous. Friendly and helpful staff, nice location in lovely village. Free parking behind the hotel. We walked 10 minutes to the campsite and had a great burger and chips.

We had an amazing stay! The place is super quiet and beautifully restored – a perfect blend of old charm (exposed stone walls!) and modern elements like glass and metal. Everything is stylish and thoughtfully done. Our room for four was really spacious and pleasantly air-conditioned – which made for great sleep and kept the bugs away. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, the pool was great with a nice temperature, and breakfast outside was just lovely: fresh orange juice, good coffee, and a tasty selection of local cheese and meats. The host was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. A special highlight: the sweet dog, which our kids absolutely adored. All in all, a fantastic stay – we'd love to come back!     A great village to discover and it always seemed active with...

    A great village to discover and it always seemed active with shoppers and diners. We only stayed two nights but it would make a perfect location for a week or more to explore the area. Parking was easy, the main square was lively and there were several good restaurants. There is a lot to see and do in the area.

    We loved our stay at La Devine in Martel. It was quiet and central in the village. The location was central to the areas we wanted to visit in the Lot. Our hostess was helpful and made suggestions about places to visit, markets and restaurants. Sylvia was most encouraging as I made attempts to communicate in French language.

    The room was a good size and had all we needed. Contact points including the bathroom. Also mirrors. The best was having really good lighting in the bedroom which seems to be unusual for a lot of hotels. Bathroom good, towels and bedding changed twice during our 8 day stay. Staff were friendly and nice.
