Well, this is accommodation for mindful travelers. It’s probably the most unusual place to spend the night. A complete immersion in history — you are literally living in a medieval castle :) You shouldn’t expect the feeling or service of a 5-star hotel here; it’s something entirely different. Very unusual and truly fascinating.

No breakfast . More honest than the person at Bussiere _Portevine who when we arrived after booking an apartment for 4 nights wanted to put us in a bedroom behind the kitchen in his house. No way .

    Apart from the chateau, built in 1220, being breathtakingly beautiful, its owner, Louis, is the warmly, welcoming, quietly inclusive of hosts one could ever wish for. We have stayed at the chateau three times now and it is always with great regret that we take our leave.
