For those who have been to Paris, some will come back with a mixed bag based on the time of the year, the crowds and let's not forget the weather. From the negative of a crowded city with a ton of immigrants to a lovely quaint neighborhood feel, full of cafes, museums, churches and national treasures to visit. Le Marais is the latter. In general, safe, clean and ready to be explored. We ate at neighborhood cafes and eateries and yes it does help that I speak the language but these days the French love to help their humble American friends. We bought our baguettes and croissants, goat cheese and jam and ate breakfast in our room. During the 3 days, we did not leave the neighborhood. Not because we did not want to but because we loved the neighborhood. Paris is an easy city to get around; the subway is safe and efficient. Do not let anyone tell you differently. We had seen the Eiffel tower and the Louvre in many other occasions, so we did not have to stand in line for those. Instead we visited some local churches and free museums like the Archives and Chandelet. We soaked up the sun in the 17 century Place des Vosgues and Hotel de Sully. To conclude, Paris has alot to offer but it is up to the individual to include the big monuments or just stroll around the neighborhood with the locals.Guest review bygodfriedUnited States - 8.0

Long lines at more prominent places. Beautiful city but very busy place. Took some getting used to the transportation system for this small town guy. Just so full of character.
Just so full of character. The buildings, the streets and of course the iconic landmarks. We spent nearly 3 days in central Paris and covered, on average 12 miles of walking each day. We used the metro as our main method to cover distance, slightly more confusing than the London underground and keeping on top of the travel card is a must. Would love to go again soon, once my feet recover. Make sure to see the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower at night. Amazing city to visit!
Amazing city to visit! We went mainly for the museums and the Moulin Rouge. We could have spent a month in just the Louvre! It was much larger than we had anticipated. We did spend a full day there. It was quite crowded, but the lines to get in were not too bad. Get advanced entry time. The metro was a learning experience, but very do-able. We never had to use a taxi! There was a strike so one day some of the attractions were closed. The Eiffel Tower was wonderful to see, day and night. The park in it's shadow is a lovely place to spend some time. We recommend taking one day on the Big Bus tour, including the river cruise. Start at noon one day and it's good for 24 hours, so you get 2 days to explore. We did visit the Moulin Rouge dinner and show. The food was good, but not exceptional. The show is a must do experience. Historical! Using the Big Bus tour we drove by and had plenty of time to hop off and see the Arch de Triomphe, Notre Dam and others.
