Right in the heart of a beautiful medieval village, a cosy little hostel frequented by hikers and pilgrims. Friendly, clean and comfortable. The town rather shuts down after daytrippers leave, so secure your provisions during the day, the common room is a fine setting to enjoy them. Oh and I think I accidentally stole their bottle opener, for which I am profoundly sorry.

It is very clean and well equipped. I had a great rest in this little village thanks to all the kindess and warm hospitality. The bed was comfortable and wifi worked great too. Shower was easier thanks to all the amenities she prepared. Nice little town with kind people and awesome restaurants / wine.

We have stopped in the hotel for one night on the way. Perfect place with very nice and helpful owners. We felt treated as good friends :) Big modern room, with comfortable bed, clean and well organized, nothing to wish more. Exceptional Stay with the Kindest Hosts I had the pleasure of staying in Saint Privat, a charming village in France, and was hosted by the wonderful Marie and her husband. During my stay, I unfortunately developed a tooth infection, but Marie and her husband went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. They made sure I got the right help and even picked me up from a location far away, which was incredibly generous. Their kindness and hospitality were unmatched, making me feel truly cared for during a challenging time. Beyond their hospitality, the village itself is beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect getaway. I’ll definitely be returning to visit and stay with Marie again in the future. I’m so grateful to have met such lovely people in such a picturesque setting. Highly recommended!

This apartment is located within a few minutes walking distance to a supermarket, which was perfect. The owner lives next door and was present on arrival to handover the keys and explain how things worked. He did not speak any English, but we managed to get the gist of most things (out French is very limited). He is a very welcoming and friendly host which helps a lot in this sort of situation. The apartment was very clean & comfortable with a well equipped kitchenette. All in all a very positive experience.

    Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is a stunning village.

    Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is a stunning village. It's quite small but there are enough restaurants, cafes and bars to keep you happy. The main square has several places to eat, with seating in the middle under a beautiful, ancient plane tree. There are gift shops but no actual supermarket so stock up on supplies before you arrive. A couple of shops sell fresh bread each morning. If you're into history, the 9th century Gellone Abbey is a must - it's beautiful and peaceful and the small museum is full of fascinating information. Entry is free. Vehicles are restricted but there's generous parking at the top and bottom of the village. Our host provided a ticket to put in the front of the car which allowed us to park and I think most others do the same. The river and gorge is just a walk away, although you have to go by bus or car, a few minutes, to get to the Pont de Diable and the various canoeing spots. Quite a few companies offer canoe trips and we had a great day doing that, highly recommended. Also an evening swim at the bridge was a highlight. We went out of French holiday season so it was bustling but not rammed. I would imagine at the height of summer it would be extremely busy.
