Charming. Very holiday vibe. Good to go at the time of the jazz festival. Great beaches and charming if minute old town. Wonderful covered market and good food to be found if you do some research. People friendly and easy drive to other places. Do take a boat trip to get a sense of the extent of Sète, and we enjoyed the local bus along the lido to Marseillan. We always love coming to Sete. A great mix of historic town and sandy beaches. The town is friendly and full of great bars and seafood restaurants. A charming town in the south of France surrounded by water.
A charming town in the south of France surrounded by water. Its beauty is enhanced by a network of canals lined with lovely old buildings. There is a plethora of restaurants along the main canal leading down to the port, where you can experience superb seafood, much of it locally caught. A restaurant which I particularly liked is Chez Francois, where I enjoyed a simple but delicious lunch of 6 oysters and a glass of white wine. One of the highlights of my visit was a boat trip which included the port, the lagoon and the famous Pointe Courte. Sète is a relaxing, laid-back Mediterranean destination. Compared to Toulouse, Carcasonne and Nimes, Sete is much more downmarket and rundown in places. It is a working fishing town so don’t expect the pristine, elegant spaces of the other towns. I understand budget hotels however this is a mocary! The red head receptionist is rude kinda aggressive! The shower was so dirty with the walls covered in old soap! The shower support was missing, the floor was sticky, the towels had a smell and stains! The whole hotel has a awfull smell that is unbelievable! The sheets were ripped, the courtain was ripped!
