    Great location if you want to visit Chamonix and Swiss as well. Its 25 min to Mont Blanc and 30 to Martigny (SUI). Its super calm for families, frequent train will take you anywhere, no need to use car. Good if you want to have a calm holiday! In winter for sure great advantage - cablecar next to hotel.

    when returning to area, i would probably not stay in...

    when returning to area, i would probably not stay in Vallorcine, but in either Chamonix (where all the action is) or even Argentière which has excellent Le Fournil Chamoniard Patisserie (come early, by noon all the great stuff is finished) and grocery store . I found we had to drive out of Vallorcine for everything

    The apartment was so lovely with all the decor, the facilities were great, having our own washing machine etc. location was perfect to travel up the mountains, a short train ride to chamonix & into Switzerland
