A lovely peaceful town on the coast with just enough going...
A lovely peaceful town on the coast with just enough going on to keep us interested. The boulangerie and local shop are fantastic, and we had a wonderful meal at The Sexton bistro on the last night. The location is perfect as a base camp for all the museums, chateaux and towns in the area, and the best beaches are just 10-15 minutes away. We found swimming best at Saint-Côme-de-Fresné. We had made a detour to Ver sur Mer so that we could visit the British Normany Monument and the Standing with Giants and also the Bayeux museum. We were en route from Geneva to Cherbourg in difficult winter conditions. Ver sur Mer was a little off the beaten track and given our time constraints and the weather we didn't explore the locality. With the new British Nornandy Memorial and other D-Day locations in the village there is great potential for British visitors but the only restaurant was not open - may be different in the summer season. attractive sea front but no facilities.
