Vire is surprisingly beautiful little town.
Vire is surprisingly beautiful little town. It is rather busy for 17.5k population. Lovely walks, Theatre, water centre. Very happy me. I mean if you get it on your way - it will surprise you in a good way. Vire is a town that goes about its business and does not really see itself as a tourist hub. They do have a friendly tourist office but there is not a lot they can promote. We walked round the town and admired the floral decorations and the bits of the old walls that still exist. The museum was shut. There are several good restaurants and in the vicinity there are some lovely small towns and the Lac de la Dathée which is a 6.1km walk round which we enjoyed. We drove to Chateau de Pontécoulant which was advertised as being open but when we arrived at 11 am there was a notice saying the next tour was 14:30 and so we walked in the grounds, most of which were fenced off!Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom
