I do like Ambleside area and Log House isn't in the town centre which I prefer, the town centre is almost a mile from Log House but you can get a bus into the centre if needed. Also you can get the boat from Waterhead Pier which is just a short walk from Log House and goes to Bowness and also Lakeside and you can get buses/trains to Keswick and Kendal and lots of other places around the lakes. And Hayes Garden Centre is just minutes away and is one of the largest in the area, lots to see and do and eat in there. As I was there just for one night I just took my own filled rolls and milk and biscuits but if had been a longer stay would have either gone to Hayes Garden Centre for a meal or over the road to Bassa and there are plenty eating places in the area. I like Bowness too and have stayed there for many years and plenty cafes, restaurants and fish and chip shop and ice cream shops and souvenir shops too.

Ambleside itself is a very sweet little town.

Ambleside itself is a very sweet little town. We stayed in the outskirts which I would definitely recommend as it gets very busy and overwhelming. The streets and paths are quite small and not built for the foot traffic it gets. It's a really nice spot to visit in the evening for some food or a pint after a long day of hiking. We would recommend The Apple Pie Cafe, and the pizzas at Mama Mia were expensive but very good

The central location is a good starting point for exploring the Lake district. It is compact but has a good variety of shops and eating places. One car park was generally full bur a second car park is available with lots of space especially for larger vehicles.

Perfect sized town for having adequate facilities but without the crowds of Windemere. Easy to walk just a short way out to spectacular trails and views, good enough choice of restaurants and cafes to fill a week, lovely park for kids, waterside activities within walking distance.

Scenic location, tranquil, comfy beds, great to have a pool on site. Staff accommodated request for iron which was appreciated . Nice to have teabags, coffee sachets on arrival. Kitchen had most things you need for a weeks stay. Walking distance to pub, coffee place, Chesters and lovely walks in immediate area and also close to Ambleside which was ideal. Bus stop short walk away that takes you into Ambleside in approx 10 mins. Accommodation was dog friendly and nice touch with board games at property.

The hotel is right in the centre of Ambleside. Whilst there's no parking, the 30 minute public parking rule on the main street means this was not a problem for us. The place is dog friendly throughout with the exception of a small part of the restaurant causing no problems. Room size is very good. The menu is varied and of reasonable value. Jess, who works the bar, is lovely, hard working and a great asset being so friendly. I'd emply her tomorrow!

Lovely location, very central to Ambleside and a short drive to Windermere. The property was very dog friendly, and provided towels to dry down muddy paws. Beautifully decorated rooms that were immaculate. The room was lovely and quiet, no disturbances.
