To be welcomed with a hug, delicious food, and the relaxing comfort of a nice home made for a perfect first stop on our holiday. Margaret and Bryce take delight in anticipating your every need and treating you as an honored guest. Everything is immaculately clean and well appointed. Donna and I slept so soundly in the quiet, dark room with comfortable bed and soft sheets. The hosts are clearly sociable but are intentional about giving you space as well. They had great suggestions for our itinerary and places to eat. We drove down the coast exploring Danure castle ruins, Turnberry lighthouse, and could have spent the whole day at the lovely Culzean castle grounds with a picnic. If you like this style of accommodation, you cannot go wrong to choose people who have the gift of hospitality.

Visited Ayr for a family 80th birthday, so not a lot of time in the town itself. But visited local pub / restaurant the Fox & Willow, great food and surroundings, the staff are great. Had a long walk along the promenade which was lovely and pleasant. Plenty of parking for all vehicles including motor homes.

Ayr is beautiful there’s some nice places to go and visit. We went to the Ayr farm park and seen the highland cows. We also walked to the pier and watched the sea. It’s so scenic. We had a Icecream in Ronaldo’s which was lovely and very well priced.

I stayed at Beechwood on my way from Belfast to Edinburgh, (and from the Isle of Skye to Belfast) it's about an hour and a bit by bus from Cairnryan (the ferry port). The hotel is a little over a mile from the bus terminus on the main road that goes out of Ayr. It took me about 40 minutes to walk with my luggage to the hotel as my GPS steered me wrong. I did it in 20 min without luggage. Ayr is a small town but has quite a selection of places to eat. I ate at Sherkan (an Indian restaurant that does more take out as their eating-in is adequate but not elegant. The food was good, but their cheese nan was like a large cheese pizza. In the morning I took the train to Edinburgh. The train stop was less than 5 minutes from Beechwood and the manager showed me where it was and printed out the train schedule for me. I visited the local Sainbury's which was only 15min walk from the hotel and picked up some fresh bread from a small local bakery on my way back.

We came to visit Ayr racecourse as horse racing enthusiasts.

We came to visit Ayr racecourse as horse racing enthusiasts. The actual course is fine but the buildings are dreadfully run down and facilities poor. From the outside it hardly open and given the time of year there was nothing to entice families off the beach. Poor racecourse management compared to many others we've been to. The town was also rather run down and I can think of no reason to return.

We have visited Ayr many times as we have family in the area. There are some lovely beaches nearby. Brig'o'doon and the Memorial garden definitely worth a visit along with the Burns Museum. Not far north and you are in the lovely town of Troon and less than half an hour inland to the fabulous Dumfries House. Lots of free parking, gardens to walk through, a maze, lovely cafe and a great play park.

Savoy Park Hotel is a beautiful old property with well kept grounds and in a fantastic location. We stopped in Ayr over night on our way down south and found the room perfect for a one night stay. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated how clean the room and bathroom were. The staff were friendly at check in and check out. The location couldn’t be better - the town is walkable, we had a delicious dinner at The Growler just down the street, and we enjoyed a lovely quiet walk down to the beach at sunset.

This was one of the best hotels I have visited in a long while. I honestly cannot believe we paid so.little for the standard of this hotel. The food was superb in the restaurant. I have mobility problems and everyone of the staff were so helpful I must single out Gordon who helped me so much. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone thinking of giving the Races or the Ayrshire coast a visit.
