FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Ruins and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage site Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the Avon River overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-level Pulteney Weir and registered historic Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options include Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and brand-name stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath hotel, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Bath is a lovely city, with lots of things to see and do.

Bath is a lovely city, with lots of things to see and do. Be prepared to do lots of walking - that's the only way you'll get to see everything! The Roman Baths are definitely worth going to see, so much history and you get given a handset to guide you through each area. There are also lots of lovely restaurants to dine in. The only thing I didn't think was worth the money is the boat trip at Pulteney Bridge. It cost £28 for two of us for an hour journey. There wasn't much to see at all. We went along the river Avon, when we were half way through there was a weir, we then turned around and returned back to Pulteney Bridge.

Bath is a beautiful city - well deserving of its Unesco World Heritage status. Plenty to see & do, stunning architecture. We walked up to the Royal Crescent, The Circus & visited Bath Abbey A night time Ghost walk was well worth doing, our guide Robert was informative & good fun. We were celebrating 2 birthdays & had a great meal at the beautiful Ponte Vecchio restaurant.

Bath is a beautiful city even in the rain!!

Bath is a beautiful city even in the rain!! We still had some lovely mornings of bright sunshine which produced a fabulous rainbow one day. There is plenty to do and see and take shelter if needed from the weather. We especially liked being here in the Autumn when the leaves throw some beautiful colours. Lots of walking to do so you need some good footwear, though there is a hop on and off bus to take you around the sites and also plenty of normal public buses. Lovely independent shops displaying very different goods to buy from the high end to the affortable, along with the normal highstreet retailers. Something for everyone. Plenty of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants too. A fabulous Waitrose for all your needs. Cute little side streets to explore which provide lots of surprises! There is a lovely cafe great for breakfast or lunch within St Swithins church called The Honey Cafe. We also ate at The George cafe and also at Ponte Vecchio an Italian restaurant serving delicious food. We would recommend a trip to Bath, we will definitely be returning.

I recently stayed at the Hilton Bath and was genuinely impressed by the breakfast. The selection was excellent—everything from fresh pastries and fruit to a full English breakfast cooked perfectly. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was spot on. The staff were also wonderful—friendly, attentive, and quick to clear plates or offer refills on coffee and juice. The dining area was bright, clean, and comfortable, with lovely views that made the morning feel even more relaxing. Overall, it was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had in a while. A perfect start to the day and a great reflection of Hilton’s high standards. Highly recommended!

A very compact city with plenty to see and do. Excellent Park and Ride which ran very frequently, especially as there are lots of hills to walk up and down. Plenty of places to visit, especially Prior Park and Museum of Bath at Work, well worth a visit Plenty of good coffee shops and an outstanding bakers, bread cooked how it used to be. Wide choice of cafes and restaurants

Bath needs to be walked.

Bath needs to be walked. Two days should be enough for the town proper, but it also is the jumping off point for Stonehenge and the Cotswolds. We were there six days, just about right to regenerate from the long flight from the States and see the sights/sites.

Excellent customer service from all reception staff and members of staff at breakfast. Breakfast was delicious, fab selection, and lovely atmosphere. The room was comfortable, spacious, relaxing, and quiet. The hotel was very clean, welcoming, and in beautiful grounds. Great location not far at all from Bath city centre and other lovely places.
