Belford is a very quiet village.
Belford is a very quiet village. Hasn't really anything to do apart from drink in a pub or cafe. There are no shops to speak of locally apart from a charity shop and post office. But it's a good base to explore the area. The pubs and cafe are good places to eat. We ate at the Blue Bell. There was a village store in the centre and easy access to local beaches by car. Five well-known castles are also accessible by car all within half an hour - Alnwick, Warkworth, Chillingham, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh. We only went once to Belford itself, to pick up a parcel at the Co-op. we stayed in Lucker, a quiet village about 3 miles from the coast at Bamburgh. Lovely scenery both on the coast and inland, though you do need a car. Perfect location for sightseeing. House was warm and cosy. Nice outdoor space for summer evenings. A bottle of wine, milk in the fridge and biscuits to go with a cup of tea a very nice touch. The hotel staff were helpful in arranging for us to access our rooms early so we could freshen up and change clothes. The staff were generally friendly and most helpful.
