A lovely place with so much history and retaining so much of its past. Great location for day trips into the Scottish Borders or Northumberland. Plenty buses ,trains if you want to explore further afield. Lots of good restaurants, pubs and cafes and a lovely beach. Furthermore very friendly and helpful locals. Nice town lots restaurants, could do with small local supermarkets rather then having to drive out to one. Great location for visiting different places , Alwick village lovely lots of eating places and a market, Bamburg castle excellent lots to see inside I was surprised how much we could walk about and see. Cafe excellent cafe lovely food. Village not to big . Then we went to Edinburgh by train great day out too busy for the castle entry have to book in advance. Great holiday in all .we are at one Italian was ok but went to the Leaping Salmon a wetherspoon pub excellent food. Plenty of it too. The accommodation itself was amazing, spotlessly clean throughout and had everything you would need and more for self catering, The welcome basket was a lovely touch - thank you so much. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Didnt do refreshment. Note there was an issue with the sink bad drainage, which was sorted and though I opted out of room being serviced, it only took a couple of days and there was always enough milk cartons.
