Beverley is a lovely market town with a good array of national and local shops plus the crowning glory of the Minster church. There were plenty of places to eat both during the day and the evening. So much history in the town to see, find and visit.
So much history in the town to see, find and visit. Hidden gardens to sit in. Plenty to find for all ages really. Friendly place too with easy access by train or car. varied choice of eating places and pubs. Quite a few independant shops still there plus the various high street stores. None are large as they are in old buildings that have been modified mainly. The market square hosts various meetings eg car rally, christmas and weekly markets, folk festivals. Our room was on an upper floor which gave us rooftop views over part of the town centre. Our room was warm, comfortable and contained everything needed. Unlike most modern hotels, the Lairgate has plenty of informal, communal space for it's guests to relax in and the grand central staircase is a real gem. I celebrated my 81st birthday during our stay and the staff helped to make it a bit special with one member bringing in a cake for me Thank you. The hotel was very comfortable and the food was excellent both at breakfast and the evening meals. We are looking forward to staying at the hotel again soon. The Cottage is immaculate!! Has a really nice modern cosy vibe to it! Perfect for a getaway for a couple! Beverley town centre is only a 20 minute walk away with lovely pubs/restaurants and an amazing market in a Saturday afternoon! 10/10 would recommend staying here!
