Bradford is a city from the past, run down whilst attempting to be modern, too many tastes to please... Having said all that it is my CITY, I was born in a Bradford suburb went to school there and love it as the place of my birth and childhood. It used to be a proud City now it is a shadow of its former past. Why it can be considered as a 'City of culture' is beyond me... All its history and magnificence is compromised all its character has been replaced by extremist ideologies that DO NOT WORK in harmony and certainly are not on the same page. INCLUSIVITY intentions RESULTS IN EXCLUSIVITY in reality... Revisit history where you can, the Town hall is a very fine building, St Georges Hall and the Alhambra are steeped in history and grand days. The Midland Hotel and Great Victoria need returning to their splendid past, alas as with most things years of damage perhaps means that is impossible. What next 'decent public transport in and out of the city centre would certainly help!!!!

    No real reason to visit.

No real reason to visit. It’s a functional place for the people who live there or travel through. In my humble opinion one would not choose to visit Bradford in the way that one would choose to visit Harrogate or York for instance.

I love Bradford as a city but the town centre was like a Ghost town with empty shops and hardly anyone around. However the Fountain Pub was fantastic and I enjoyed a wonderful curry a Chicken Bhuna with tandori rotis for £9.00! - Amaans restaurant off Legrams Lane

This year is the city of culture in Bradford.

This year is the city of culture in Bradford. Not having been back for many years I expected lots of change and I was'nt disappointed. Total culture change very sad in some ways and good in others. The town centre is a collection of gambling places hair salons and the high street favourite charity shops. However the new Kirkgate market on Darley Street has had some work done on it. My only thought on that is why so many empty listed buildings and still construct a new one. I am sure there are many reasons. It is my hometown so will always be a special place for me.

I used to live in Bradford and the changes to the city centre are fantastic - pedestrianised, more relaxed, almost continental. Loved the flower beds and the new Daley St market and little bistro bars, brilliant!

Lots of history, and easy to get round as plenty of buses, get day tickets for unlimited trips.Lister park is a real treasure with Cartwright hall. Saltaire mill and the industrial museum are great places to visit with family. Places to eat , plenty of good curry houses,---My Lahore, our favorite, also the Polish Bistro just round from the Leonardo hotel is fabulous!! The centre has a water park used by families on hot summer nights ---- unfortunately in August the Alhambra theatre is shut down for re-furb. So we couldn't see anything in there!! Centre can be a bit confusing with old and new mix , lots of eateries in Broadway Centre but very few cafe with outside tables. For piece and quiet, Bradford Catherdral is lovely and Lister Park is well worth a wander through.

Located in the center of Bradford, the Midland Hotel is a lovely place with character. It is an imposing old structure, in contrast to the modern mall beside it. It is also quite near several of Bradford's attractions, like the Cathedral, the fountain by the city hall, and the media museum. The room we were in was stunning combination of old and new, with a four poster bed and a nice renovated bathroom. Also, it has a lift, which was most appreciated.

Stayed at this hotel a few times now when visiting the area. The price is really reasonable and I genuinely feel one of the better hotels in Bradford, its out of the way. Great parking with a lit car park, a good overall hotel. Haven't tried the breakfast there but there is a really nice little cafe/restaurant just round the corner on the industrial estate that's perfect for a morning meal.
