Bradford is a city from the past, run down whilst attempting to be modern, too many tastes to please... Having said all that it is my CITY, I was born in a Bradford suburb went to school there and love it as the place of my birth and childhood. It used to be a proud City now it is a shadow of its former past. Why it can be considered as a 'City of culture' is beyond me... All its history and magnificence is compromised all its character has been replaced by extremist ideologies that DO NOT WORK in harmony and certainly are not on the same page. INCLUSIVITY intentions RESULTS IN EXCLUSIVITY in reality... Revisit history where you can, the Town hall is a very fine building, St Georges Hall and the Alhambra are steeped in history and grand days. The Midland Hotel and Great Victoria need returning to their splendid past, alas as with most things years of damage perhaps means that is impossible. No real reason to visit.

I love Bradford as a city but the town centre was like a Ghost town with empty shops and hardly anyone around. This year is the city of culture in Bradford.
This year is the city of culture in Bradford. Not having been back for many years I expected lots of change and I was'nt disappointed. Total culture change very sad in some ways and good in others. The town centre is a collection of gambling places hair salons and the high street favourite charity shops. However the new Kirkgate market on Darley Street has had some work done on it. My only thought on that is why so many empty listed buildings and still construct a new one. I am sure there are many reasons. The location is very convenient whether you travel by train or by car. There is a car park, which is very convenient (if there are spaces). The property itself is full of character and some period features as they call it. Some rooms are very good, some are very tired - if you stay for more than a couple of nights - I would recommend to talk to the hotel and ask them for a premium room.
