We visited for a murder mystery evening on the SDR steam railway. Took the opportunity to visit the Abbey grounds and also used our bus passes to visit Totnes. Great location for short visit with beautiful countryside right on your doorstep.

Buckfastleigh is the perfect place from which to explore the Devon coast and the Dartmoor National Park. Buckfast Abbey is a delight to visit, there is a steam railway to Tavistock and the butterfly and otter centre near the station is well worth a visit. Dartmoor National Park is a short drive away.

A welcoming stop off for one night.

A welcoming stop off for one night. We’ve also had a longer stay in the past to explore the area lots to do and see. We were moving on into Cornwall this time. Dart bridge Inn is a great place for food and a stopover

Great location for exploring the area.

Great location for exploring the area. Buckfast Abbey was amazing, free to park and free entry (well worth a visit). The butterfly farm and otter sanctuary was good, although a little over priced. The Valliant Soldier pub and museum is very good, a pub where time stood still. All in all a lovely place to visit for a few days.

    I have friends there.

I have friends there. An excellent new wine bar with very friendly and hospitable staff. They went out of their way to accommodate us and find suitable dishes for me to avoid my chilli allergy. But parking is a problem I didn’t use other facilities but I understand that the music scene is getting better all the time

Excellent, super friendly staff. Lovely & quite.

Excellent, super friendly staff. Lovely & quite. Great location. Good breakfast. Spotless in all areas. Very comfortable. Would have been nice if the lights in the room were a bit brighter & there was some control over the heating. It was just little on the cold side for us in November. We would definitely stay again though.

The outside area was a beautiful place to sit and have a drink or a meal while enjoying the river views. Restaurant area was decorated beautifully and was a lovely place to sit and enjoy meals. Fantastic food, I was served a big portion of olives, hummus and bread that could easily be a sharing plate instead of a starter. Sam who works in the restaurant and bar is asset to this hotel as she is always smiling, friendly, chatty and always offered help to every guest.

Cosy, warm cottage with some nice homely touches. The location was good for us as it was just off the centre of Buckfastleigh. The host was very accommodating when we arrived earlier than expected! My youngest son enjoyed the bingo game and the teenager loved that Netflix was included 😆
