Bushmills is a great base location if visiting Northern...
Bushmills is a great base location if visiting Northern Ireland and in particular the North Antrim coast. We visited cities and towns such as Belfast, Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart, Ballymoney, Ballycastle and Ballintoy and attractions like the Giants Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Ballintoy harbour etc. Bushmills has a number of Fish & Chip shops, Chinese takeaways and coffee shops which we sampled. Our favourite two places to eat out were the Sizzlin Sausage in Ballymoney (for a proper Irish Fried breakfast) and the Water Margin Chinese restaurant in Coleraine; both definitely worth a visit. Bushmills is an historic town, not only home to the eponymous whiskey, it is at the heart of the stunning North Antrim Coast with all its amazing attractions. It is also becoming a bit of a foodie hub with several fabulous restaurants such as The Townhouse and Tartine. Magden specialist cheese and coffee shop is a local icon. Bushmills Inn is a must. Splash out on an Irish coffee if the budget does not run to dinner or a stay. Mike’s cafe does excellent hearty daily roasts as well as Thai specials. Excellent Gallery and Craft shops. Bushmills is a lovely place to visit. Suppose it’s not much more than a Main Street, but there are many nice eateries, and a walk along the River Bush is lovely - you may even see the fish jumping in the water! Bushmills is a charming small town just minutes from the Giants Causeway, with beautiful rocky beaches nearby, several delightful pubs in town, and of course the Old Bushmills Distillery. The tour was a fascinating view into how whiskey is made and distributed. This was our first visit to Northern Ireland and the North Coast, and Bushmills was a highlight. Quaint little town with choice of three convenience stores for essentials. Well paced for all tourist attractions on the Causeway Coast. Bilberry Mill Cafe is highly recommended for a variety of meals and caters for gluten free; also Flash in the Pan Fish and Chips. We got free tea and coffee whenever we wanted, so could just drop in for tea to the bar. The place has a great atmosphere and the staff are very nice! Also extremely close to Bushmills distillery and nice bars and cafe's. The room we had was very spacious and recently refurbished and the view was stunning. We had a delicious evening meal and enjoyed every minute of our stay in the Causeway Hotel. We got free entry to the visitor’s centre included with our room which was great and a guided tour of the Causeway which is beautiful. It's really close to Bushmills, Portrush and the Giants Causeway, and the local area is absolutely stunning with loads of walks, cliffs to climb and historic buildings to explore.
