Buttermere is a quiet village with 2 hotels and a cafe . Lots of walks on your doorstep and many more if you take a short drive or use the regular bus service. A beautiful part of the Lake district .

there's not much in Buttermere village itself, but it is a great place to walk the lakes - at low level around buttermere or crummock water, or to access a lot of the wainwright hills in this area.

The hotel was walking distance from both lakes.

The hotel was walking distance from both lakes. Although Buttermere is a very busy spot with tourists we found it peaceful, pleasant and safe to walk around. There were a lot of dog walkers having a great time. WiFi and mobile phone signal is poor and intermittent but it was good to be off line for a few hours. It made us feel relaxed and recharged in nature

The walk around the lake was very relaxing, it was fairly quiet and we had exceptionally good weather. With few people the scenery was idyllic. Climbing up the steps to the top of the hill was challenging but very rewarding.

Beautiful hotel made to feel very welcome by most of the staff. However there was a young lady serving in the restaurant. I think she was European who was quite rude to us one evening. I think she must have had a bad day we asked to be seated by the fire as no one was there but was saying it was full when it wasn’t. I don’t think she realised we were staying in the hotel. Another member of staff assisted us and he was really lovely. But she still continued to be rude and slamming things down on the table and ignored us.

An amazing gem of a place. My friends and I loved staying here for five days. The perfect base for our walks to Haystacks and other local peaks. There is nothing that we could criticise, just lovely. Would definitely recommend and if we decide to walk in this area again would try to book. Next time we would book an extra day or two to spend more time relaxing and swimming in Buttermere or Crummock.

The location can’t be beaten, buttermere is stunning. Staff are all very friendly. Nice breakfasts. Comfy bed. Shower awful due to low water pressure.
