The area around the castle is quaint and attractive. There’s lots to explore in the castle and the displays are interesting and informative. For eating and drinking you’re spoilt for choice. The town is steeped in history, is a fantastic location, and an ideal base for wider exploration of Snowdonia . My interest was in the little steam trains of Wales, of which there are an abundance within easy reach by car from Caernarfon. I choose the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways, but during the summer, there are several others including the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the Llanberis Lake Railway. If you are prepared to venture further afield, to the south is the Talyllyn railway near Barmouth, the Fairbourne Railway, also near Barmouth and a bit further south at Aberystwyth, the Vale of Rheidol Railway, all of which I highly recommend.Guest review byWg_Cdr_Andy_ThomsonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

All the staff were very helpful. Our room was very comfortable although the pillows were too firm in my opinion. The breakfast was a winner and special mention to Delwyn who was so very helpful at the breakfast service and prevented me from burning the Inn down using the toaster!!! Parking is arranged by the staff and we managed to park at the side of the Inn at a cost of £10 per night. Bars, quayside, harbour and magnificent castle and waterside vista just 5 mins walk. The pool and restaurant must be amongst the best in a N Wales hotel. Can be a little noisy if you are at the front, with laundry and empties collections happening around 6am. But it's at the front where the views over the Menai Straites to Anglesey are to be had.
