Love Coniston, returning regularly.
Love Coniston, returning regularly. Plenty of interesting places to go nearby, great walks from here. Very good pubs and local shops. I ate in self catering flat. The lake is a must, self drive boats and charted trips. Ducks and swans, the amazing cafe by the lake seems to grow each year. I recall when it was a small green tin shack. There is much to enjoy at Coniston from local walks around the lake as well as trail walks and peak climbing, the local area is steeped in history and the village a joy to walk around. The Ruskin Museum was very interesting and provided an appreciation for past historical local identity and future opportunities, the entrance fee was more than reasonable and the information relating to Coniston of greater appreciation for its significance throughout the Lake District.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful area, lots of paths for hiking, if you are prepared for bad weather. There is a little convenience store in the village with everything you could ever need, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. A day was enough to fit in a trip on the lake, the Ruskin Museum and the array of shops. Don't go looking for Donald Campbell's grave in the church cemetery, it's in the village cemetery off Hawkshead Old Road.
