There is not much here as it's a tiny little hamlet.
There is not much here as it's a tiny little hamlet. The Metheun Arms must do a tremendous business as I don't know what other restaurant/inn is around. Luckily for us, it (MA) was a fabulous place! The old church is a pretty thing/old cemetery too (with a gravestone that sites some 107 year old woman had "fresh teeth" (story has that she grew a 3rd set! EW!). One grocery store, a few shops ... not much but walking the footpath was lovely. Lots of peacocks, which was novel. Good public transport connections between primarily Bath and Chippenham with other buses going elsewhere. Our trip was to attend my Uncles Funeral at Westerleigh Crematorium on the outskirts of Bristol, sadly due to work commitments are stay visiting the area was one day at the funeral and Wake and a night either side, so not long enough to sample the delights on offer seeing the area surrounding Bristol and Bath we saw very little. We stayed in Corsham as a base for visiting Bath (approx 12 miles outside) and so glad that we did. The location is very picturesque with beautiful countryside and the hotel was beautiful. Nice village with amazing green spaces, woodland and river location. Excellent for dog walking, places to stay and eat. Great walking but some steep hills to climb , some lovely traditions buildings, and friendly locals Stayed at the Quarryman’s Arms , lovely place with great food and amazing views. All the facilities and shops including Co-Op, Londis are nearby and walkable from the House . It was very neat and clean , with hot/cold water in kitchen, washroom .
