Lovely little market town, had a wander round on Thursday which was market day and was a lovely feel to it with independent traders selling. Absolutely loved the proper old school greengrocers there too, every town should have one, spent a small fortune in there very happily, most of the items are local too. The town was not that attractive as there were too many take-away food outlets and public houses. Unfortunately the town does not seem to have any significant employers other than the service sector and with one long time hotel now closed we were fortunate to be recommended to go to Hotel 41. Kilham in Driffield is a pretty and peaceful village....in beautiful countryside. A well appointed place to stay to reach the local areas such as Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. Very peaceful, no light pollution it was like another world. The village is lovely, people we saw were friendly. Great pub The Old Star serves good meals at a reasonable price. We wanted somewhere quiet but central.
We wanted somewhere quiet but central. It’s close to Scarborough but not noisy. Close to Hornsea which we often visit the free port there. Also there is Sewerby Hall if you like to visit old mansions which is only a short distance. Also Hornsea pottery and John Bull rock factory where you can make your own rock. We arrived at the farm to tranquil views, horses, and friendly staff and a beautiful apartment. The beds were comfortable, and we all slept peacefully. The sunset was stunning.
