Excellent stay, hosts are clearly very experienced and have thought of and provided everything you could possibly need! I had accidentally left my UK plug converter in my friend's car when they dropped us off; this could have been a small calamity as my phone would have run out of battery and we would have been stuck, but these hosts saved the day by having a UK plug converter already right there in the drawer! Everything we could possibly have a need for was provided and easy to find, and information about the apartment and the surrounding area was very clear. The hosts were also very easy to reach before our stay with some questions we had. Beds were comfortable with high-quality bedding. I enjoyed that the downstairs bedroom was completely dark and almost soundproof; this made for very sound sleeping. The apartment was spacious and well-built, with modern kitchen and shower. Staying on a country estate was lovely, there were peacocks walking around and the grounds were very nice. Breakfast items were provided free of charge, this was much appreciated as the location is fairly remote and would have taken a bit to get in town to eat something. We made ourselves a lovely breakfast with homegrown eggs, bread, butter, strawberries and other items. Hosts also offered to stock additional items at cost, but we didn't end up needing any. We only stayed three nights to attend a wedding and didn't have time to tour the grounds, but that would have also been wonderful. We did meet the hosts as we were leaving, and they were kind enough to tell us a bit about the house and their activities on the estate. Would stay again, and suitable for a relaxing long-term stay in the countryside while still being close to major attractions (rental car recommended in that case).

1. Incredibly beautiful quiet countryside setting an hour from London Heathrow. It is an old manor set amongst meadows and woodlands, exquisitely maintained, with gorgeous gardens of produce and romantic walkways. 2. The service was impeccable (hard to find these days), without a single flaw. The motto seemed to be "your wish is our command". "Izzy" at reception was very proactive in making sure we had the massage we requested on very short notice on arrival, kudos to her. Laundry would be delivered same-day at reasonable prices. Restaurant service was white table cloth and professional. Room service arrived at the requested time, hot and as requested. The Do Not Disturb sign was honored. 3. The multi-course fine dining experience was perfect , with brilliant service and a very helpful sommelier who assisted in navigating the massive wine list. Breakfast juices were fresh-squeezed and delicious. 4. Our upper floor spacious room ("Pear"), had a deep, copper-coated tub and separate shower, a high ceiling, and a very comfortable bed, mini-bar, adequate hanging space and drawers including bedside drawers. I was happy that key information about Gravetye for guests did not require use of a QR code, but was instead printed and accessible, the old-fashioned way. 5. Hosts provided a pre-printed list of five local walks one could do straight from Gravetye, without having to drive.

I liked the location. There was a field out side the room with a number of pheasants going through the matting rituals. The dinning room is quaint with decor dating back a while. The food was excellent.

Staff pleasant food ok and beds comfortable, Rooms very poor, carpets need replacing, and rooms need upgrading. All common areas need upgrading in lounge area settees very worn with no support. Bar very poor no brandy or Scottish malt whisky

The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was...

The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was excellent. The carpet in the hallways needs replacing especially outside our room which was on the ground floor. Room was a good size and clean but they do need a bit of updating although please dont replace the beds as they are really comfy. We’ve stayed here numerous times and look forward to our next visit. Staff are very friendly so thank you.

Large king-sized bed was very comfortable. Breakfast good. Hotel grounds spectacular. Staff very personable. Good pubs in the area for meals and drinks, particularly the Hatch Inn at Colemans Hatch but phone for a table if planning dinner

Service was very pleasant.

Service was very pleasant. The room was very comfortable,,particularly the bed. A very comfortable sleeping. Good to have comfortable areas just to chill if needed. The staff worked clearly as a team. They always checked that all was OK.

This hotel is an ideal place to stay for visiting Ashdown...

This hotel is an ideal place to stay for visiting Ashdown Forest. Everything winning the pooh related was a short drive away. I would say you would definitely need a car for getting around this area. The service from staff is exemplary and very friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and a good size. We had breakfast and dinner here and the food was delicious.

I loved this area, and the bus can get you to the town and...

I loved this area, and the bus can get you to the town and there's plenty to eat and explore in town BUT to get to the beautiful ashdown forest or forests/farms around, I would recommend having a car.

We received a very warm welcome at the Swan Inn and their customer service was good. We liked Forest Row and we found an excellent Thai restaurant there for our evening meal. The cooked breakfast at the Swan was very good. The room was comfortable and the bathroom facilities were excellent, very clean and with a superb shower facility.

One of the best country escapes we could have ever hoped for. Ashdown is located in the most beautiful grounds, surrounded by peaceful forests and greenery. The hotel itself is gorgeous and immaculate throughout. Our room was perfect and the dinner and breakfast in the Anderida were both 10/10.

Quirky, no frills unpretentious accommodation in the centre of Forest Row at a good price. Friendly, easy going senior proprietor. Room had en-suite bathroom even though we did not pay for one. Very clean. Kettle in room. Two double beds for £67.

Fantastic location for Ashdown Forest and Sussex coastal areas, towns of Lewes, East Grinstead and Haywards Heath in easy reach. Many miles of good walking on your doorstep AND you can visit Pooh Bridge !
