The property is located in a beautiful location and the staff was very friendly . Cozy and compact rooms. The bathroom in our room had a foul smell probably because its a fairly old building. But all in all definitely a nice stay.

We loved this hotel, while a few complained it was "dated" we thought the decor added to it's appeal-like visiting an older relative's comfy home. All the staff were top notch in service and friendliness. Also, a great value!

Quick walk from train station, on a lovely square at one end of the high street, updated bathroom of decent size, buffet breakfast if you book with - can also pay for it at front desk if not, lots of shared lounge areas, nice staff at reception, we had 3 singles for husband, myself and our teen, room was a decent size for the 3 of us. We would here stay again.

In the Shadow of Ben Nevis

Fort William is shadowed by Great Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, and lies on the shores of pretty Loch Linnhe. The Scottish Highland’s 2nd biggest city attracts hordes of hikers, climbers and mountain bikers, enhancing its self-proclaimed reputation as the ‘outdoor capital of Scotland’.

In the city centre, on High Street, is the West Highland Museum that explains local Highland history. The West Highland Way is a famous, long-distance walking route that begins and ends just outside Fort William.

The Nevis Range ski centre and Nevis Range gondola provides a stunning view of the Great Glen. A downhill mountain-biking track also begins here. This breath-taking track has hosted numerous world cups as well as the 2007 World Championships. Stop along the way to try the local whiskey at Ben Nevis Distillery.

Only had a day there but went on a boat trip in the morning. Nice little shopping centre and the church was worth a visit. Lots of shops, pubs and eating places. Had a very nice dinner at Crannog restaurant. We were too late to see the Museum as it was just shutting at 4.00 pm.

Interesting tourist-oriented town with plenty to do in the vicinity especially if you like the outdoor life. A choice of restaurants including the Tavern where there’s good, no-nonsense traditional cooking such as mince and mash, and chicken breast stuffed with haggis served with mash and a warming whisky sauce. The trip up the mountain in the gondola just outside was also a highlight . The view was shrouded in low cloud at first but gradually cleared to reveal a fantastic panorama.

The near by waterfall was lovely to see - about 5 min drive away but you had to pay parking online. Bit dissappointed with town centre not what we expected - we did arrive late so lots of shops had shut for the day. Overall seemed run down. However scenery on the way was amazing. So worth the journey/ it was just an overnight stop off before heading to Skye.

The location was excellent. Very close to the high street, easy walk to Tesco and the train station, many restaurants and good shops close by. The restaurant below the hotel was very good, recommend booking ahead during peak season. Room was neat and tidy but a bit dated. Area was quiet but some of the other guests were a bit noisy. Fort William is a nice town and we enjoyed it more than expected.

We chose this hotel mainly for its proximity to Ben Nevis. We were greeted very warmly by the friendly receptionist, who couldn't have been more helpful and is a real credit to the hotel. We ordered the packed lunches for our walk up Ben Nevis and the sandwiches were very tasty. Parking was plentiful and easy and it was an easy drive into Fort William.
