Godalming is a gorgeous market town. It's set in the heart of Surrey with lovely countryside and close to many lovely locations, e.g. RHS Wisley, Windsor and many more. All relatively within 1 to 2 hrs.

Godalming is a lovely little town, fairly flat and interesting to walk around. It is a good base to other areas too. We went to the Watts Gallery and Chapel, it was the prime reason for our visit and we weren’t disappointed. It is also close to Guildford with really good London links.

Nice town, which we'd not visited for nearly 50 years - the first, apparently, to be lit by electric light (1881). It's a super high street, and there's a nice riverside park with a colonnade dedicated to Jack Phillips, who was the wireless operator on the Titanic. He also gives his name to the town's Wetherspoons! The Surrey Hills countryside around Godalming is really lovely too.

I wasn’t coming for pleasure so had dinner in the hotel both nights. Just 3 parking spaces ludicrous. However, public car park free after 6.30pm right through Sunday. But as I had arrived on Friday it would have cost more into Saturday morning. The room 104 was small and over the kitchen air con units. On the plus side, short corridor outside and no upper storey so blissfully quiet. Would have preferred a bath.

I had breakfast in Witherspoons, it was fine. I was shown around by family i was visiting. Do not stay at the Inn on the Lake, unless you have come into money. If you have stay somewhere else anyway.

Godalming is an attractive small town on the edge of the Surrey Hills. We’re regular visitors, our daughter and family live there. The area around the high street has some good shops, nice restaurants, pubs and it seems like there’s a new coffee shop opening each week.

Great location in the centre of Godalming. Room was really well decorated and roomy. Bathroom was large and stocked with lovely toiletries. We stayed in a twin bedded room. Plenty of space. Bathrobes and slippers provided. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choices. Nice bar area. Afternoon tea, although not sampled, looked delicious. Children’s version available which looked lovely. All in all, very good.

The bed was good but the shower was held together with elastic bands it ranged from really hot to freezing cold when set on warm. The cleaners took my tea bags on Thursday. I don't drink coffee hence I Carry a large bag of rea bags. The doors banged as there's no soft closers. Not a good experience.. no designated parking for hotel use. When car park full you have to park on road side

Food, both dinner and breakfast excellent. The Stag uses local ingredients, and it was the best full English I have ever had. The sourdough toast was fantastic. The room was spacious, but as expected in a 17th Century building, a bit wonky. All the staff we met were very helpful, and nothing too much trouble. Would happily stay again.

Room was clean and the bed v comfortable. Bedding clean and fresh. Was relatively cheap and served its purpose. Wifi worked. Free private parking behind the hotel. Great location if you want to walk along the meadows. Left keys on the table at checkout, so that was easy and quick!

No cooked breakfast, but continental was fine. Water supply to the whole area was cut off, but they managed a coffee! Not the hotel’s fault.
