The hosts were lovely and accommodating. The room we stayed in was spacious but still cosy and it was incredibly clean. The breakfast was delicious. Bacon cooked perfectly! The location was amazing. Only a 15 minute drive from skafell pike and a stones throw from the beach, which is gorgeous. 10/10 would definitely come stay again.

So comfortable, really friendly staff and very traditional place, with tons of character. Breakfast was fab. Location was brilliant but it was a lot cheaper than the inns at Wasdale head yet only a few minutes drive away. Loved it. Will go back again.

The manager (owner?) offered us a great place at the back to safely parked our motorbike and a pint of ale on the house while our room was getting ready (we booked it less than an hour before arrival). The food served at dinner was gorgeous and we wish the portions were smaller, because we were really sorry not to eat everything, despite we ate twice as much as we should (we were offered boxes to save it for later). The breakfast was delicious as well, with a wide selection of food (including oat milk and a marmite :)). If we ever visit this part of Lake District again, we will definitely stay there.

Service itself was exceptional 👏 morning breakfast was great, had choices on breakfast menu to choose from. We hot milk for our toddler hr is fussy eater so quite difficult to make him eat anything.. room was clean and tidy, all the staffs were caring and they never said NO to your request, which is a sign of good customer service. All together happy about stay here... we loved the route to the hotel, very scenic and adventurous route.

    The house is situated in an area I love as places of...

    The house is situated in an area I love as places of historic interest and beauty are near by. The Georgian town of Workington is an easy car ride though parking is difficult in the high season. If you want a ride on The Ratty I recommend going before 11.00 in the morning. There isn't much to see at the Roman Bathhouse at Ravenglass but the Senhouse Museum at Maryport is a must if you like history. It is easy to get to the Western Lakes and Keswick. The host recommends places to eat which are mainly pubs in nearby villages. Everyone is friendly so don't be afraid to travel alone. Petrol was very cheap!

    I didnt stay at Holmrook i stayed at the Bridge Inn Santon bridge which is a lovely old Inn. I loved Eskdale Mill Ravenglass & wastwater & the mountains which ars really close by, be aware of the very narrow roads though!!!

    Awesome property, Jo the host was as lovely as can be and an example of a decent honest human. The room was spotless, extra and above toiletries and was exactly and above what the pictures showed. One not to be missed and you best start booking fast!     Holmrook is a quiet village with few amenities, but it is a well placed base for travelling a little further afield. The nearby beaches at Drigg and Seascale are rather good and Ravenglass is worth a visit as is Muncaster Castle. The nearby narrow gauge railway can take you into Dalegarth near Boot in the Lakes within view of the Hardknott pass and a short walk from Stanley Ghyll Waterfall. A little further to the north Wast Water and Scafell Pike are not so far away.

    Beautiful Location to Stay if your visiting the Scafell...

    Beautiful Location to Stay if your visiting the Scafell Region and Cliose to a Beach too. A visit to Stanley Ghyll is also recommended. There is Bower Inn Public House which is a nice walk away - to give the car a day off. Lovely Meal to be had there.

    Beautify countryside.

    Beautify countryside. Interesting places to visit eg Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Hardcastle Roman Fort, Eskdale Watermill. Less good is the number of narrow, twisting and steep roads, but that is to be expected in an area such as this.

    What a fantastic B&B in a beautiful location. Hotel information book in the room very informative. Fantastic breakfast, very comfy bed, lots of additional extras such as fluffy dressing gowns, toiletries, iron/ironing board. Plus a large selection of tea’s/coffee available in your room.     The hot tub was amazing, the farmhouse had everything you need for your stay. The host were very friendly and helpful. Within a 15-20 minute walk was The Victoria Hotel is a gem the homemade food was lovely.
