Horton is in a lovely location in between two of the famous Pennine Three Peaks, Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough. If you are attemting to do all three in one day you will just run through in a minute or two. There isn't much to the town itself, but the surrounding landscape is fantastic. Can't say as I Iiked either of the pubs though, and the landlord in one was pretty rude and seemed deeply miffed that I was staying elsewhere. There is a rail station (with a lithophone!), and a bus route passes through, but your ideal transport in these parts is Shanks's Pony, and getting off the roads and into the glorious hills. There are plenty of signposts for routes up the big hills, but do get a map and check out the many neolithic and bronze age sites, and the many caves and waterfalls in the area.

It was lovely to be out in the countryside.

It was lovely to be out in the countryside. It very pie full and wuiet. Lots of trails for hike. Plenty of delicious pubs and restaurants very close by, most allow pets. It was nice to have a getaway where the children spent all day outside the entire duration as opposed to going on iPads etc. all in all a lovely getaway and we will surely return. The perfect place to rest and relax whilst being sure your little ones are in a safe environment just outside. Would also recommend for couples looking to escape and getaway together. My and my partner have already started planning.

It's over 20 years since my last visit, and now there is a much better range of accommodation to suit people's needs - camping, bunkhouses, pods, holiday homes and B&Bs. Most people we met were walkers, like ourselves, taking on some or all of the 3 peaks. I would have liked to have stayed longer and taken a train ride over the viaduct, and also done more walking on lesser-used paths. We ate in the Crown after our challenge walk and found the food and service to be great.

Horton in Ribblesdale is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and is a good launch pad for walks, trips and adventures. On the foot of Pen-y-ghent and has a couple of eating places but other places are available a short drive away. It is a small village though so not lots to do there within walking distance if you have a young family.

I've known the place for many years - mostly staying at the excellent campsite. Easy access on the Settle/Carlisle railway line. The village itself is very attractive, has 2 pubs, a campsite and a bunkhouse. Pity the cafe died just before Covid, that was a fine place too. Leaving the place a bit short of places to resupply.

The pod was very well equipped and comfortable.

The pod was very well equipped and comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring the area. The host was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. It was very quiet and relaxing. The areas around the pods are generous and beautifully kept
