Small beautiful market town within a superb country setting back dropped by the lake district fells. Traditional market place with live market on Thursdays. Full range of restaurants from A La Carte to take aways - Indian is particularly good! Kirkby Lonsdale is bustling, full of shops, accommodation of all kinds and very characterful with lots of history including famous writers, at least one composer, etc. The church is worth a visit and the graveyard is full of interesting gravestones, if you enjoy that kind of thing. The river is beautiful including Devil's Bridge. Lots of motorbikers visit enmasse there. You do need to have access to spending money though and expect to pay tourist prices everywhere. Cracking wee town with enough choice of shopping eating and drinking. Close enough to The Lakes; Lancashire; Yorkshire & The Dale's to access loads of days out. Kirkby is a great place to visit - a lovely town to wander and surrounded by brilliant views and countryside to explore. Walks along the river or further afield and plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area.
