Lot of small businesses have closed. Still interesting! Quirky shops not found elsewhere. Nice eateries. Harbour area interesting. Da Lodberries iconic . Many parts identifiable from Shetland TV series. Great textile museum featuring amazing skills of knitters. Main museum remarkable given its size. Quaint unspoiled village with wonderful harbour and views. You can take local buses around if you dont have car. Beware Sunday as all closed and can’t even buy a coffee!! A beautiful part of the world that I want to go back to visit. Shetland Islands are vast and varied and I’ve only scratched the surface of seeing all of its beauty. Lerwick was basked in sunshine and very warm for our whole stay. Highly recommend a walk along the waterside from the Mareel (great coffee and cakes) to the Knab. Stunning views. We also took the boat trip to Noss - the sights and sounds of the birds were amazing. But the sheer scale of the cliffs! Plenty of places to sit and take in the beautiful water. Stayed 4 nights in a 3 person room (the only one left when we booked) so plenty of space for a couple. A large well set out sitting room with bay window and tea/coffee making facilities for guests which we mostly had to ourselves on a couple evenings. Friendly staff. Big cooked breakfasts included. The facilities have everything you need for self-catering, the bed is comfortable and the location is quiet. The hosts could not have been more helpful and obliging.
