Leyburn is a proper old market town with a relaxed and friendly ambience. Diesel was cheap. There are lots of beautiful viewpoints in the area, from the pretty but small Harmby waterfall to the more grand Aysgarth Falls just up the road. We spent one morning of our stay in Leyburn. We enjoyed browsing in the diverse collection of local shops. We had a cooked breakfast in the small restaurant overlooking the market place and a drink in The Bolton Arms. Overall a pleasant town that we would retun to.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Staying in the centre of this lovely town (Market Place) is a good idea as several worthwhile things are close by, including the Wensleydale Railway (preserved diesel locomotives), a distillery and the town's attractive shops as well as a couple of restaurants. Walk a few yards away from town in any direction and the views across Wensleydale are superb. A really good place to visit for a night or two. Leyburn is a nice little town.
Leyburn is a nice little town. The Sandpiper is the jewel in the crown as far as eateries are concerned. There is also a delightful, independent supermarket which appears to be built in a Tardis! Lots of lovely, local produce combined with the usual provisions.
