Markinch is a great little town.
Markinch is a great little town. The train service is good and the bus service is also handy. Both the Laurel Bank and Balbirnie Hotels offer good dining options. Jamie's Bar is a good local pub with character. There are 2 decent supermarkets as well as a 2 good Chinese takeaways and a few cafes. Nice place to stay.Guest review byWallaceLaos - 4.0

Very quiet place with very few shops. Not much going on! We were attending a wedding at a local hotel which was why we stayed there. Had a lovely meal at the Laurel bank hotel which was very reasonable.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
I chose to stay due to having the railway station a couple...
I chose to stay due to having the railway station a couple of minutes walk away for visiting family and had a very warm welcome from Jake (bar man) who showed me where the room was. The room was well equipped with tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer and fan heater should you need it. Big wall mounted TV with Netflix/Apple TV etc. En-suite had ample towels and toiletries and again very clean.
