When the day approached that we were staying at the Green Dragon in Marlborough, I read the emails carefully and was a little concerned about no parking on the premises, sloping floors, low ceilings and steep stairs. The truth of the matter was, parking is available out the front of the premises between certain hours free of charge..ie at night when we arrived. The stair case was small and easy to climb. The low ceilings and sloping floors added to the character and experience. The food was top quality. The room was beautifully decorated, the beds were very comfortable, the en-suite was convenient and clean and the windows overlooking the High Street were easy to open. My only negative comment would be the flower boxes in the windows. The plants were dead and spider webs everywhere. That could be looked after better, but other than that one little thing which doesn't affect your stay, it was one of the best stays we have had on our UK holiday.

Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was perfect - loved the bath products. The room was a little small for us as we are on a long trip and so had large suitcases, but for a regular trip it would be just fine and we managed. I expected the room to be noisy as it was facing the road but it was extremely quiet - and I wake with every sound. Parking was super easy. You pull up to the front door, off load your suitcases then drive a minute up the road for free on street parking. We left some of my husband's shirts in the wardrobe by mistake and first thing next day we were informed of this and arrangements made to post them to us. The one thing that surprised and really impressed me was the in room breakfast. I told the property manager that we wouldn't need breakfast (I am very anti packaged and processed food) but she said its in your fridge already. Wow! What a treat, a jar of super fresh fruit - mango, berries, melon. A jar of overnight oats freshly prepared. Coffee, tea, juice, croissants, and mini panettone - all delicious

Warm, friendly reception from Nick, very helpful in giving me options for food / breakfast (nothing provided by hotel). Nick also helped me navigate the complicated parking situation outside. Room was lovely, very clean, tidy and beautifullly furnished in Laura Ashley furniture. The lack of kettle was offset by the provision of a free bottle of water. Large HD TV in the room with Netflix The village is lovely, very picturesque, lots of nice pubs and restaurants on the main road. 10 minutes away from Avebury

Ben and Cody were incredibly welcoming and helpful and we loved our stay at Elderbrook. The room was very comfy and the breakfast was delicious and very well organised! It was a great stay and if we were ever in the area again we would absolutely want to stay at Elderbrook!

Great stay, the hosts were very welcoming and were great to talk to. Plentiful parking with nice views and a quick well organised check in. Having a mini shop table in the hallway was a great idea and very useful.

    It's a great town with many interesting shops and places to eat and drink. It has a good vibe about the place. We found an excellent French cafe/restaurant which was very good . We would have gone back for dinner but it was closed on Monday evenings. Pity.

    Marlborough is charming.

    Marlborough is charming. A good choice of places to eat for both full meals and for coffee & cake. I enjoyed browsing and buying from the large selection of quality shops - especially ladies' wear, brands not seen on my local high street but usually found in bigger cities. My stay was for a course, but there were interesting and historical sites to visit from there.

    Beautiful historical lively market town, with lots of restaurants, cafes & shops. The architecture of the old Coaching Inns & shop fronts, makes Marlborough a unique & a lovely place to stay & an after-dinner stroll. Located near the Ridge Way & Avebury ancient monuments, Marlborough is ideally located to sight-see this part of Wiltshire.

    Attractive town, good eateries; The Marlborough, Bunce's and Polly's Tea Room. Nice independent shops. Mayther is a shop not to be missed for attractive greeting cards and beautiful Italian wrapping paper (great if you make your own cards).

    Lovely town with excellent independent shops.

    Lovely town with excellent independent shops. People were very friendly. The Merchants House (free for Historic Houses members) was well worth a visit - we had a 1 hour guided tour which was very informative.

    Lovely town for independent shops. All on the main street. Well situated for exploring the area. The Funghi club was excellent, both in atmosphere, service and especially food. The chef is to be congratulated. Ask Italian lived up to its reputation.

    Good location right in The Marlborough high street Parking wasn’t the issue we were expecting as we were out all day and overnight parking is free on the high street Breakfast was plentiful- huge portion sizes and good choice Our room was clean and the bed comfortable We used the earplugs provided and the noise didn’t keep us awake (it is a very old building with squeaky floorboards and zero soundproofing) Staff were great

    Stayed 1 night on a cycling trip. They have a good system for keeping your bike safe overnight, so I'd recommend it to other cyclists looking to stay in Marlborough. Rooms were clean & comfy and you are very close to shops and restaurants. Be aware they do have love music at the bar on Friday and weekends till ~23:30 so if you're planning an early start then next day factor that it.

    Bed was very comfortable, duvet and pillows were good quality, very thoughtful breakfast and the fridge was a lovely touch, good quality kettle and toiletries. Very quiet and will definitely be staying again. We stayed in room 6 with a private bathroom, perhaps the next time we will go for a superior king room. Easy fuss free access to the hotel and room
