We arrived early and were welcomed. The weather was awful - Middleham had had a good downfall of snow overnight, albeit a little early. We enjoyed a drink in the bar area whilst our room was ready. Our room was spotlessly clean, with an excellent view of Middleham Castle. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the bar where we met Fiona - the proprietor. What a lovely lady. Our meal was excellent - could not be faulted. After a restful night's sleep, we were delighted to see that the snow has disappeared. Breakfast was absolutely scrumptious. It certainly set us up for the rest of today - Sunday 24th. Very nice to see the race horses being exercised. Fiona explained that Middleham is the Newmarket of the North - many riding stables in the area. Another visit is a MUST. Next time we will take our dog with us to meet Fiona!!

Central into the village, lots of places to visit around the area by foot or car. Lots of places to eat also. Very spacious cottage, very clean on arrival, the hosts kept us up to date all the time and seemed lovely and helpful.All the rooms were great size and we liked the blackout curtains. A nice lounge and great that there was a dining room too. Great to hear the horses on a morning, nice and quiet area and all the neighbours were friendly. Really enjoyed our stay thank you.

The building we stayed in was beautiful and the room was spectacular! Such an amazing place to stay. Our hosts were friendly welcoming and brilliant basically. And we would love to come again. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The breakfast was beyond restaurant quality and honestly one of the best breakfast experiences I’ve ever had.

Location was excellent and free parking right in front of the hotel in the lovely main square in Leyburn. Friendly,, helpful staff, breakfast good and well kept real ale. Good value - we had the budget room but adequate for our needs and extremely clean and wonderfully quiet. Handy for the whole town which has many I dependent shops and central for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and the stunning countryside. We would be very happy to stay there again.

Picturesque Yorkshire Village with The Countyman's Inn as the focal point of village life. The pub looks from the inside like you would expect an old English pub to be , with a few modern vibes ( german beer).The food is good old yorkshire grub , but more modern food is available too. And it's all yummy , especially the breakfast.The rooms are quirky but clean and have everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay here , and the service is superb.

    Sarah and Chris were lovely hosts and the room, breakfast etc was exactly what we were hoping for. We would definitely recommend the priory and the village of Middleham to anyone looking for a cosy short break away.

    This spot is a little gem of a find! We enjoyed our stay so much and felt pampered by the staff and facilities the entire time. Such a beautiful surroundings and grounds. We enjoyed our stay very much---would highly recommend!

    Only an overnight stay but in a short walk round we found many places of interest and surrounding area is beautiful. We would like to revisit to go round Richard III castle and see the Forbidden Corner.

    Beautiful views and walks Friendly people Great pubs And got to see lots of race horses I would highly recommend the Coverbridge Inn that you can walk along the river to probably about 2 miles away. This pub is friendly and a traditional pub with great ales and delicious home cooked food

    Picturesque little market village with the added interest of...

    Picturesque little market village with the added interest of several race horse stables in the location. A walk up to the gallops early in the morning to watch the horses train is definitely worthwhile, as is a visit to the medieval castle.

    Visited The Forbidden Corner which was great fun.

    Visited The Forbidden Corner which was great fun. We had a light lunch at the cafe on site, which was nicely presented. Evening meal was taken at the Three Horseshoes which was about a 15 minute drive away. Called in at Aysgarth Waterfalls on the way home the following day. The Forbidden Corner was very busy as it was the school holidays, however as visits are timed, I think this helps when planning a visit.

    Super location in the centre of Middleham. There isn’t a car park but we didn’t have any problem parking our motorbikes close the the hotel. We had a lovely room on the front which looked like it had recently been refurbished. Really comfy bed. It is a pub downstairs so there is a bit of noise until closing. We live on a busy road so it didn’t bother us at all. Great to see the race horses going through the town in the morning.

    A fantastic cottage right in the centre of Middleham. We had a lovely three nights stay here, it was cosy, warm and clean to a very high standard. Would recommend this cottage, we will definitely return in the future.
