The Mildenhall museum was very good worth seeing the Anglo-Saxon worrier and horse skeleton. Was wonderful to see how the displays were presented starting from the pre historical era . It's free entry too. The two lovely ladies volunteering on Friday were very knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming had a chat over coffee they so kindly offered. The St Mary's church was lovely too. The hotel is maintained in excellent condition and the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent and the breakfast was fantastic!! Comfy beds, quiet location, parking outside. Nice having two bathrooms. Overall all the basics were there and good. Interior a little tired, and couldn’t get the tv working properly - possibly batteries needed in the controls. If you like cooking take along a kitchen knife, veg peeler and kitchen paper. The accommodation was welcoming , comfortable and well appointed, with good use being made of limited space. For "ground floor" accommodation the high step up into it was surprising and awkward. The kitchen was well appointed but a jug might have been useful for warm milk for breakfast. Lovely part of the world.
Lovely part of the world. Given it's proximity to US air bases it's a pity that levels of 'service' commonplace in America don't appear yet to have rubbed off on the locals. Although it's an old building with all the issues needed to maintain old property, you can see and appreciate the effort put in to keep its originality.
