This is a perfect location if you like walking, birdwatching or just pottering down by a quay. If you enjoy good food - there’s a lovely bakery serving coffee with amazing bakes, a hotel serving quality food with friendly service and 2 local pubs offering a choice of cuisine. With a castle which Henry ll built and a church dating back to 12th century. Plenty of history in the area with the famous Sutton Hoo close by.

Such an attractive place, lovely views, stunning coastline.

Such an attractive place, lovely views, stunning coastline. A very pretty place with good facilities. Always worth a return visit. Hotel and pubs are excellent value. They have a good village shop and at the quayside fresh fish can be purchased. Boat trips for visitors are available and there is a vessel where meals are served during the trip. The castle and church are also of interest and there are plenty of off road walks and cycle paths. Parking is good.

A really pretty town coastal town, with fabulous buildings. Orford is like taking a step back in time. Not too busy, easy to walk around, lots of really cute cottages/homes to admire and just a few really good shops for the essentials

The Castle is brilliant, fresh oysters down at the quay are fantastic, and really cheap. Local pub 200 mtrs has a great menu and is run by very friendly people. Thorpeness is only 30 minutes away (House in the Clouds Fame) Well worth a visit as you are that close. Local birdlife is amazing and we heard a cuckoo first. time for years

Orford is quiet, very clean, and quite picturesque.

Orford is quiet, very clean, and quite picturesque. It has a Castle within which is a small museum, maintained by English Heritage. There is an area of outstanding natural beauty a short boat trip from the quay and the sunsets can be lovely. Their is a small chocolate shop as well as a bakery / tea rooms if you get peckish during the day. A stately church (St. Bartholomew's) sits centrally in the town. The best part is that its all within about 10 minutes walk.

Two nights by the quay is perfect for a brisk walk.

Two nights by the quay is perfect for a brisk walk. Both north and south offer an extensive circular walk. If you stay in the Jolly Sailor you can get a voucher to avoid paying for parking. Everything in the village is in walking distance and you really should walk down every single back street as you will find bakers, butchers, Chocolate shop and both Pinney's shop and restaurant. Everything is dog friendly except the cafe on the sea front (not sure why) three groups were turned away, yet it was too cold to sit outside, so that was about 10 people who didn't buy a hot drink and snack. The castle is managed by English Heritage and is well worth a one hour trip. Check before you visit as October is a month where everything starts to close down, NT trip to the Nature reserve is only weekends.

This really is a "cosy cottage" in the centre of Orford and will parking right outside We felt at home in minutes as everything has been well thought out - log fire, tv, kitchen, beds, bathroom facilities etc - and all decorated in an excellent way that maintains the character of the cottage, but in a modern way. For a couple this was a great place to have a short break... quiet... warm... and a short walk to the sea and nearby pubs/eating places. Would happily come back.

Spent a luxurious weekend at Easter in the Crown & Castle in Orford. Perfectly located near the Quay and pubs and bakery. Room was lovely, bed huge and firm. Breakfast was excellent and dinner even better. Staff could not have been nicer and met any request with 'of course you can'. Absolutely lovely. Expensive for sure but you get what you pay for. Recommend highly.

The cottage has been finished to the highest standard - from the kitchen to the bathrooms. The location on the water's edge is amazing and we loved walking into Orford to see the castle, visit the pubs and restaurants and walking along the river edge.
