Ramsgate is a delightful seaside town.
Ramsgate is a delightful seaside town. The harbour area is fab to wander around, the beach is wide and roomy, plus it was easy to walk along the beach / broadwalk to Broadstairs which is also a gorgeous town to visit (where we watched a band play on the band stand and played crazy golf). Loved the beaches and the old beachfront landscaping and architecture, relics of the Regency era, including Pulhamite rocks, which was something new for me (fake rocks!). The sandy beaches were charming, and each beach nearby feels different. Also love the chalk stacks and cliffs - it's all very beautiful. Not as run-down as I was anticipating. Best Wetherspoons I've ever been in, sitting out on the terrace overlooking the sea, order from table via app, food and drinks very reasonable. Aperol Spritz £5! The harbour is lovely with a lot of history attached to it, lots of boats to see that have special meaning to Ramsgate being one of the Cinque ports. The old railway tunnel is a special place, owing to its use in WW11. You can easily get around the Harbour or town on foot or use the 'Loop'. Even the garden was a nice size with little seated areas. The hosts had left us some lovely treats, and breakfast bits which was lovely. I was sad to leave at the end of the week. All amenities within a few miles, and some beautiful beaches. I would book this house again if ever i came to Kent again. He was very attentive and gave me some good local information for places to eat. My job meant that I was getting back to the hotel very late so alas I never woke up in time to sample breakfast.
