FAQs about hotels in Sheffield

Beyond The Full Monty

Partially located in the Peak District, Sheffield is best known as the setting of "The Full Monty" and indeed, vibrant Sheffield has everything: excellent shopping, great nightlife and an impressive athletic heritage.

It first became famous during the Industrial Revolution for its pioneering role in the UK steel industry. One technique invented here is commemorated in the name of its most famous theater, The Crucible, home of the Snooker World Championships.

Close by are the peaceful Winter Gardens with their multi-arched roof. The Peace Gardens are overlooked by the elegant town hall, and the focal building of the impressive Botanical Gardens somewhat resembles Crystal Palace, also by the same architect.

The city’s 2 soccer teams – Sheffield United and Wednesday – play at Bramall Lane and Hillsborough Stadium respectively. The cutting-edge English Institute of Sport is also based here, and the nearby Sheffield Arena is a prime UK venue for music and entertainment. The best shopping is found in the Meadowhall Centre near Rotherham.

Booking.com’s Sheffield accommodations include city center hotels with parking, others by Victoria Train Station, and guesthouses near Doncaster Sheffield Robin Hood Airport.

I only came to see my friend who started to study at the University. But it was really nice surprise how the city was nice. People are very friendly. I love the old buildings, old church, and the new architecture, all nicely mixed and nicely done. I also love the tram. I felt the city was really safe. Lots of nice restaurants and pubs. I also found very reasonable guesthouse with the parking. This guesthouse made me to stay longer in the city. the size of the city is just right. Not too big. Not too small. I am looking forward to going back next month to explore more.

For over 60 years I have found the people of Sheffield the most welcoming population for my many enquiries over that time regarding 'where' places are in and around the city centre and the wider area and how to find them. Not only are they very helpful and welcoming BUT the number of residents who have offered to take me to a point where I could either see my destination OR see a significant landmark to reach/find my destination. It happened again this weekend - it always happpens and they are so reliable in their efforts, their care for people, it seems to come naturally to them to make visitors welcome ... notable and remarkable. Well done people of Sheffield and THANK YOU. The Bus Station/Interchange staff are similarly extremely helpful ... nothing is too much trouble. THANK YOU. My OAP Bus Pass/ENCTS Pass qualifies me for free travel on the Sheffield Trams but I live in the outskirts of Greater Manchester = TfGM area. Another 'plus' to add to the attraction of Sheffield. THANK YOU, Sheffield. This weekend, I explored the woderful Sheffield Round and today enjoyed Porter Valley in the glorious sunshine of the first day of Autumn - excellent cafe and staff and facilites at Forge Dam - I thoroughly recommend. THANK YOU to everybody at Forge Dam.

I'm a Sheffield exile living in Wales, so probably a little biased, but Sheffield must be one of the greenest cities in England. There is a thriving arts and cultural scene and real ale pubs are everywhere

We only visited the city for a music venue for 1 day but should have stayed longer to explore what the city had to offer. Found the hotel staff and city people really friendly and helpful, especially regarding transportation around the city. Thank You :)

    SUCH a friendly city.

SUCH a friendly city. The city centre is vibrant and has loads of lovely outside spaces. Loads of independent shops and bars as well as small chains. Everyone was chatty and approachable. Plenty of lovely places to eat and drink. Plenty of parks and museums to explore.

Although not in one of the best areas of Sheffield, the property was near the city centre, the Sheffield Interchange and the train station which one could easily walk to. There is some regeneration taking place near the property. Apartment was well-equipped with kitchen utensils, crockery and glasses, and also a kettle, a toaster, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, washing up liquid etc. The apartment was clean and good size. Property may benefit from a microwave oven.

The hotel is in a fantastic historic building in the very centre of Sheffield. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast choice was basic but good, also some vegetarian options available. Especially nice was the kind and courteous staff; they really made us feel at home. Overall, I enjoyed the stay at the Leopold Hotel and would gladly stay there, should I ever visit Sheffield again.

The hotel was in a great location from the city centre, we travelled to Hillsborough Park for Tramlines and they let us drop our bags off and get our key once they opened at 12 so we could go to the festival. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, rooms were decent and clean as well as well priced - would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Sheffield

Great location in the city centre, friendly service. Modern, good sized rooms. Comfortable beds, slept like a baby! Plenty of car parks around, I parked in the Apcoa which is discounted for hotel guests, just let reception know and they'll discount for you. Good wardrobe space, amenities including hair dryer and kettle.

Great location near city centre and not too far from station. Had good communication via messages for self-check in and got my deposit refunded next day. Decent shower, plenty of power sockets and comfy bed. Will use again if I am back in Sheffield.
