The house was outstanding. In a quiet neighborhood. It had all that you need. Comfy beds, spacious master bedroom, carpeted stairs and hallways. Private car park, private fully fenced spacious garden. Fully equipped modern kitchen, and three bathrooms. And the house felt very secured and safe.

The hotel has parking permit for the guests. It is easily reachable with busses from "the Hard" bus and coach station. A taxi took around 8£ midday price. There is a wide well litt lounge and the place as a whole has a cosy feel about it. I will definitely return should I come to Portsmouth again. Recommended.

Having lived in West Town, Hayling Island (in 3 houses altogether in the 1970s) it was easy to see where things have improved - but getting on and off the Island by road is still a nightmare too often. Prices, including in Charity Shops (except The Lions Shop), seemed to be taking advantage of holidaymakers. We didn't spend much time looking around as we spent each day visiting friends in other parts of Hampshire and in West Sussex, some of whom we had not seen for over 50 years. We ate in ISLA BAY Cafe, Eastoke Corner, after moving on when we found only a very limited breakfast menu in the Cafe opposite the Chemist in West Town. An evening meal at Newtown House Hotel / Restaurant was disappointing, the Chicken and Wild Mushroom Stroganoff was tasteless, with chewy mushrooms and too little Strog sauce. Your question in "Tips for great reviews" ... asks about great activities for "young couples like you". Flattery might get you an interesting reply - if I were not 82 !

Not a lot to see off season but if you like a quiet laid back setting..with beaches and seascapes Hayling is ideal. We ate in the Barley Mow which is very nice inside, the staff were friendly…the food was decent and the price for 5 adults to eat and have a drink which included a bottle of wine and two courses for some was just over £70… can’t get that where we come from!! Whistlers Fish and Chips were tried as well, good service order and collect. There’s a petrol station near the bridge so a chance to fill up for the journey home.

Only one way in and same way out of Island but the accommodation was well worth travelling the few miles. We used the Island as a base and visited Castles Stately Homes and gardens as well as a few sea sides places we travelled up to 40 miles on some trips.

It is a nice place to go, the kids would like it. there is a fun fair and nice beach. The only snag is during the summer it can be a hassle to get on and off Hayling Island due to the volumes of traffic so you can expect long delays and traffic queuing.

The staff were extremely friendly on check in and when we went in/out. The breakfast staff were really lovely too, making sure we had everything we needed and the breakfast was cooked to perfection. Hotel located on one of the main roads through Hayling island so it was easy to find and ample free parking. Facilities in the room were good, we had everything we needed. Interesting building with lots of history.

The cabin had everything we needed for our stay and was better than any hotel room due to the location opposite the beach and the enclosed sun trap patio with BBQ. Sharon the host made us most welcome and would certainly recommend this booking.
