Very pretty location on the river Wye. Lots to see and do.

Very pretty location on the river Wye. Lots to see and do. The viewpoint at Symonds Yat rock is brilliant and the cafe at the top does lovely ice cream. Enjoyed watersports with YOFI Paddlesports and would highly recommend them, we felt very safe and had great tutorial before setting out - went on a half day canoe trip with the family and also hired some paddleboards. Ye Olde Ferrie Inn was great for food and dog friendly. Would definitely be back to the area.

Lovely picturesque location with good walks and a pleasure boat with trips along the river. Local pub and hotel but the tea shop is no longer there. The view from Symonds yat rock overlooks 3 counties Forest walks in the Forest of Dean nearby

We loved the location, though the final stages of reaching it are a little tricky for the first time, e.g. the narrowness of the lane. We eat one evening at Royal Lodge and one evening at Llantony Priory Hotel. Breakfast was good and thoughtfully served. We were not a young couple as we are 80 years young! If we had stayed for longer we would have done all three of the recommended walks, but canoe-ing might have been a stretch for us. Royal Lodge is amazingly convenient for some of the most beautiful and famous places in the British Isles, e.g. Tintern Abbey, Abbey Dore, Patrishow Church, Hereford cathedral, countless tiny churches and beautiful gardens and small historic towns such as Hay-on-Wye.

Symonds Yat is so peaceful at this time of year (November) with stunning scenery, quiet lanes and lots of wildlife. Both pubs (The Ferry Inn and The Saracens Head) provided excellent food and great, local ales as well as the standard lagers. Just a beautiful place to visit although the lanes are a tad steep to walk back (more beer required)

Beautiful landscapes, river and lovely walks.

Beautiful landscapes, river and lovely walks. A few single track roads though most can be avoided taking a longer route. The Old Court Hotel food was good, home made and reasonable. Nice staff and cosy. Symonds Yat Rock was amazing, great views. Recommend Woods of Whitchurch for lovely lunch and amazing cakes.

The weather was heavy rain for some of the time, but driving through the lanes with the trees dripping, the mist rising, and everything so green was magical. The area is loved by walkers, which we don't do so much off now, but the area is so green, peaceful and invigorating! It must be the ozone in the air. We were only here for a 1 night stay and had visited Ross, Yat Rock and driven through part of the Forest of Dean. It is an amazingly thickly wooded area, that seems to go on forever. I've walked through well marked paths in the past with friends who lived at Rock, and my Grandparents who lived at St. Briavels in the forest. Goodrich Castle is a great place to visit as well as little village's and Inns you will come across. Yat Rock is known for its Peregrine falcons, which if you can catch sight of one they are magnificent. Nearby, Coleford, Lydney and other towns offer some good shops and pubs. Enjoy!

Entering the house on a hot day was so refreshing. It was cool, bright and very clean. Good shower, quite big double bed, a nice big couch and an extra fold out bed if needed. We loved the location although I would recommend following the coordinates to get there and not the address. This takes you to the holiday park on Symonds Yat East, but you need to go West. Also good parking space in front of the house. We had a short but lovely stay, thanks!

The room had a splendid view of the Wye River. It was also very comfortable. The staff were helpful and polite but distracted. Walks from the hotel are worth the footwear
